After one of the main campaigns (the temple or the nature group) comes to a conclusion, I would like to start an E6 group of all shifters. The following is a campaign proposal for your consideration.
Everyone in the party would play a shifter (ECS, 18). Shifters are feral humanoids descendant from lycanthropes. The group would represent a sizable chunk of a shifter tribe numbering twenty to thirty. Although some of the other tribe members would make able adventurers, the majority of them are children, homemakers, and elders. The primary responsibility of the group would be hunting, defending the tribe, and potentially organizing raids on competing tribes.
To take the most advantage of the shifter heritage, I would grant every character an additional shifter feat at first level. Since the shifter race gets stronger with every shifter feat, this would provide a small boost from the beginning. In the long run, the additional feat will be just one of many, since E6 is literally nothing but feats after 6th level.
Since many carnivorous animals have small litters, twins are not uncommon among shifters. To allow for more interesting play, I will give each player the choice of playing a set of twins, though slightly lower in level. Synergistic character combinations would be preferred, but not necessarily enforced.
The campaign would follow the ECCS guidelines with the following additions:
- Character race must be shifter
- You will be granted a shifter feat of your choice at first level
- This feat is in addition to that normally granted at first level
- All prerequisites must still be met
- You may begin play as a single 2nd level shifter or a pair of 1st level shifters
- If you choose to play two characters, they will be treated as one character one level higher for all logistics including starting wealth
- Starting wealth will be 100% that of a typical 2nd level character
- Because shifters favor a few well crafted items, the single item limit will be 1/2 total character wealth
- Note that is equivalent to the 1/3 rule for 150% wealth
- Because shifters favor a few well crafted items, the single item limit will be 1/2 total character wealth
In addition, the campaign would use the Epic 6 (E6) system, summarized below:
- Character progression from level 1 to 6 follows standard d20 rules
- Upon attaining 6th level, for each 5000 experience a character gains they earn a new feat
- For the purpose of experience awards, each five feats (up to 20) is equivalent to +1 character level
- Beyond 20 feats, each ten feats is equivalent to +1 character level
As an addendum to the E6 system, stat points will be awarded at 3rd and 6th level (rather than 4th and 8th, which is unattainable).
UPDATE (7/7/2012): Since this campaign is small and the changes will be easy to incorporate, we will be retroactively adopting the house rules listed here.
